I Love Quirky People!

i love quirky people - quote - santa outfits

Yes it is true. I love quirky people! You know who I mean. The black sheep, the odd balls, the weirdos, the outcasts, the ones who aren’t afraid of being themselves even if society is judging them.

I have been friends with amazingly interesting, creative and quirky people ever since I was in school. My group of friends could pretty much be summed up as the band of outcasts.

There was the goth girl who sat on her own and would glare at people until someone actually bothered to sit with her at lunch to find out she is actually a very interesting and extroverted person.

How about the hippie artist who loved creating quirky art that no one understood until someone bothered to ask and find out there was much more to her art than paint on canvas.

Or the international student from China who was struggling to understand a new language and make friends but it only took one friend for her to learn how to fully express herself in the English language and share how she is distantly related to Chinese royalty.

don't be afraid to be quirky quote

The main point I would like to make here is that the quirky people and the outcasts often have amazing stories to tell and they quite often turn out to be the most interesting people you will ever meet. They can also turn into the most loyal and trustworthy friends you could ever wish to have.

I also love quirky people because I guess I am a little quirky myself! In school I was the girl who loved everything Sci-Fi. I had a picture of an alien stuck inside the back cover of my school diary and an anime cartoon picture stuck in the front cover. I also admit that I probably was not the greatest when it comes to putting an outfit together, and when I was in high school, I was awful at it! I cringe when I look back at some of the tom boyish clothes I dressed myself in back then.

When I first started high school, I actually sat with the ‘cool kids’ but I realised I had nothing in common with them and they weren’t interesting enough to me. Instead I went out seeking quirky people like me to socialise with and now I am lucky enough to have an amazing and loyal group of friends that I still have a strong connection with today.

I love quirky people because they are:

  • Interesting
  • Creative
  • Independent
  • Accepting

Are you quirky? What are some of your quirky interests and traits?

I was the kid who never minded playing by myself. I used to put my mom's Camelot cast album (showing my age here) on the record player and I would act out all the parts. I was FABULOUS! Doing stuff like that when you're little makes you an oddball. Being an oddball at an age when you're supposed to "fit in" doesn't win friends and influence people. It does build character and make you strong. I love being quirky and I love other quirky people, too. We'd probably be good friends in real life. Great post!
