Eating our way around Brisbane via Instagram

My home town of Brisbane is filled with delicious food which is why a fellow food photography enthusiast and I have started our own Instagram page called Brisbane Food Fanatics where we share various food pictures from places we eat at around Brisbane.

My friend and I are hardly food connoisseurs, however we do enjoy eating and we always take pictures of our food when we eat out, so we decided to share this passion and interest of ours in this neat little instagram page.

We cover casual dining, cafes, restaurants, take away, sweet treats and beverages in our pictures. We don't necessarily eat fancy, but we do eat tasty!

Here are a few example of food pictures we have up on our Instagram page so far:

Ferrero Rocher Cupcake from the Cupcake Patisserie Chermside

Corn fritters with poached eggs and tomato chutney from Next Door Kitchen and Bar Southbank

Warm chicken and cous cous salad from Groove Train Chermside

Ramen from Hakataya Ramen Indooroopilly

Sweet Potato Kusabi from Wagamama Chermside

On The Weekend - RSPCA Million Paws Walk

On the weekend, I attended a wonderful event called the ‘RSPCA million paws walk’. It’s an event where you bring your dog along for a walk to raise money for the animals in the RSPCA animal shelters. There are also stalls selling pet related products, food stands and entertainment. It is a great event and there was a big turn out.

I went along with my mum and sister and we brought the family dogs Tyson and Pixie. Tyson is a mutt who is cross with a mastiff while Pixie is a fox terrier. Obviously we had to dress them up for this special occasion.

Pixie was wearing a little minnie mouse costume I purchased in Tokyo and Tyson was wearing a matching red and white bow tie. So cute!

Tyson and Pixie are best friends. They have been inseparable ever since they first met. Pixie will also often give Tyson kisses.

When we arrived at the event, it was great to see so many different types of dogs and they were all very well behaved. Tyson was happy casually meeting all of the other dugs but Pixie was a little cautious and overwhelmed.

We could choose to do a 1.5km or 4km walk. We chose the shorter walk. It was a lovely warm day and every man and his dog was in a good mood.

If you ever think of going to this event, I highly recommend it. Its great fun and its for a good cause too!

Tokyo DisneySea

I consider myself to be a big Disney fan, but I had never heard of Disney Sea until I visited this amazing park in Tokyo.

Disney Sea is a completely unique Disney theme park that can only be found in Tokyo. The park has a few well known Disneyland rides included such as Tower of Terror and Indiana Jones, however most of the rides are completely unique to this park.

Instead of the park being centred around the castle, Disney Sea has a volcano in the centre which erupts randomly throughout the day and evening.

DisneySea also has an array of wonderful themed lands you can wander through. This park is the most visually stunning I have ever seen. The theming in each area is so amazing and realistic, I was literally walking around with my mouth gaped open the whole time.

My favourite ride had to be The Tower of Terror, however the story behind this ride is completely different to the USA version. I will not give it away so that you can discover for yourself when you visit. Easily the scariest ride in any Disney park.

Journey to the Centre of the Earth is another great Jules Verne themed ride unique to Disney Sea. The robots and theming in the ride is so realistic and there is a great thrill at the end that will make you scream.

I also can’t talk about Disney Sea without mentioning Duffy. Duffy is a cute teddy bear who can only be found at Disney Sea. He is also a unique Disney character originating in Tokyo who is suppose to be Micky mouse’s beloved teddy bear.

He is EVERYWHERE here. Not just in the Disney Sea park, but in Tokyo too. People young and old will walk around the park carrying Duffy bears or wearing some sort of Duffy themed merchandise.

There are also Duffy photo spots around the park where you can sit your Duffy bear for the perfect photo op of your bear visiting the park. Only in Japan!

Disney Sea also has a selection of fabulous shows and parades we were lucky enough to see. The day time parade on the water is called ‘Legends of Mythica’ and it has to be the best daytime parade I have ever seen. The robotic floats out on the water were so extravagant. Just amazing!

I didn’t think that could be topped until we saw ‘Fantasmic’ the wonderful night parade and show. It really summed up the Disney feel so well and the show was filled with lots of oohs, aahs and wows from the crowd. Truly magical!

I will go out on a limb here and say that this is the best theme park I have ever been to. I can’t even put into words how amazing this park is. Its not even the rides that make it, it’s the theming, the detail and the wonderfully magic atmosphere that is created here. The Disney magic you find in Disneyland is found here but with extra pizzaz and a slightly more adult appeal.

I hope you do visit one day. You won’t regret it!

Trend Spotlight: Superman

I am a massive Superman fan, which is why this week's trend spotlight is dedicated to all things superman! Superman is not just for kids and nerds, the Superman symbol is so stylish when used on Jewellery, and is a bit of fun when included on a quirky accessory. I hope you enjoy these finds as much as I do!

10 Great Ways to Tap Into Your Creativity

I like to think of myself as a creative person, but in my job and day to day life, I don’t get much of an opportunity to access it and nurture it. I’m sure many of you feel the same way, which is why I have come up with this list of the best ways to access that creativity hiding inside of you!

Everyone has their own way of expressing their creativity. Have you ever stepped out of your comfort zone and tried a different creative endeavour? If you have never tried one or more of these options, why not give it a go? You may discover that you like it more than you realise!

Painting & Drawing
Do you like to take your creativity out through artistic means such as painting and drawing? Do you prefer drawing people or landscapes? What is your favourite medium? Whatever you are use to, why not change it up and challenge yourself? Try a different subject matter or a different medium you are not use to.

Craft
Craft involves using your hands to make anything.  This includes scrap booking, knitting, jewellery and fabric accessories. Whatever you love making, keep doing it, and if you have never tried before, give it a go! There are so many craft ideas and projects on Pinterest to get you started.

Graphic Design
This one can be trickier for some over others who are not familiar with it, and can be quite a learning curve. Graphic design involves creating something in a computer program.  I would include creating an image from scratch as well as altering an existing image as options to express creativity through this medium. Designing the look of a website and blog are also great computer based creative outlets.

Writing Stories
Short or long, scary or romantic, creative writing is a great creative outlet. A lot of imagination goes into writing a story to create an engaging piece of work. If you have never written anything, just put pen to paper and let the creativity flow!

Writing Songs
If you love music, this may be more up your alley, and a special level of talent combined with creativity is helped to both come up with words and an appealing musical sound to go along with it. More use to traditional forms of writing? Stretch your skills by writing a song.

Writing Poems
If you are not as confident in writing long stories or songs, writing poetry is a great creative outlet and is great for short bursts of creativity. There are so many different forms of poetry out there you can write, so why not try them all?

Photography
I personally love taking photos. Some may not see it as a creative task when taking photos of the family or taking photos on holiday as memories, but photography really can be magical with a little creativity. A certain talent and creativity is needed to take really good photos and the best way to start is to get snapping!

Movie Making
Have you ever made a short creative video and put it up on youtube? This can be a really fun creative activity to do on your own or with a group of friends. Maybe make a funny skit or your own music video. There are so many options with the power and diversity of a video camera.

Fashion Design
Fashion design is also a great physical product of creativity that can be lots of fun and bring real rewards. Whether you are just sketching the fashion design or if you make it yourself, it’s so fun and creative.

Interior Decorating
Why not turn your house into its own creative canvas? Injecting your creativity into the space around you is such a great and practical use for your creative skills.

Combine your Creativity
Not only do I love to dabble in each of these creative areas, I also like to combine them where I can get more bang out of my creative potential. That could include taking a photo, and using graphic design to edit it and post it on my blog. I also like writing a story, then drawing the characters in my story to get a better idea of who they are. Or maybe you want to upload a music video to go along with the song you just wrote? If you paint a wonderful painting, you may also like to use it as inspiration for interior design of a room you wish to hang it in. The opportunities are truly endless!

I hope this article has inspired you to get creative, so go get creative and be sure to share your creative ventures on your blog too

Tokyo Disneyland

I recently had an amazing holiday to Tokyo and I would love to share all the stories and tips from my travels with you!
The first place on my list I would like to tell you all about is Tokyo Disneyland! If you love Disney and are familiar with other Disney parks around the world, you will love Tokyo Disneyland!

I have been to both Disneyland in LA and Disneyworld in Florida, but I must say I think I enjoyed my Tokyo Disneyland experience more! Yes it is is crowded here and yes you have to be organised before you go but the Japanese people love Disney soo much, its infectious!

The Disney culture here is just so intense! I have never seen anything like it. Young and old attend the parks covered in Disney merchandise and carrying a plush toy of their favourite characters around the park.

Two elements about the Tokyo Disney Park that make it extra special are the hats and the popcorn buckets. The hats are amazing. There are so many different elaborate hats featuring Disney’s best characters and the Japanese people love wearing them. They are so quirky and cool!

The next best thing is the Popcorn buckets! All around the Disney park you will find different flavoured popcorn stands from the ordinary flavours like salt or caramel to the weird like soy sauce and curry flavoured pop corn. Now the variety of popcorn is no where near as exciting as the popcorn buckets that come with it. Each different popcorn stand sold a completely different popcorn bucket.

A Disney popcorn bucket is a plastic bucket with a specific disney theme. It hangs around your neck and you can open from the top to eat the popcorn as you walk around the park. You can also refill it from the popcorn stalls around the park for a cheaper price. Genius and fun!

My friend and I got these extremely cute minnie mouse bow popcorn buckets. I love mine!

Tokyo Disneyland also has the same rides that you will find in all other parks such as splash mountain, haunted mansion and space mountain.
There are also however some rides unique to Tokyo Disney and the most awesomely cheesy, tacky and amazing ride would have to be Captain EO. A 3D movie ride starring Michael Jackson from 1987 when he was still black as a space ship captain, saving the universe through the power of music. I know amazing right!?

We were also lucky enough to be at the park during the 30th Birthday Celebration which has just recently ended. For this birthday celebration which lasted for 1 year, the park was covered in special birthday decorations. They also put on a special day time parade ‘Happiness is Here’ which also has a crazy super catchy theme song.

They also have the classic night parade which is just like the ones you find in other parks however a few of the floats are different.

Another great part of this Disney park is the themed food! They really don't leave anything out here. I especially loved these green alien dumplings and the Micky mouse shaped hamburger bun!

Disneyland Tips:
Check the crowd calendar before you go. You will get much more for your money if you choose to visit in a quieter period, because Tokyo Disneyland parks are some of the busiest in the world! Even so, an ordinary day at Tokyo Disneyland is likely to be much more crowded than any other Disney park you have been to.

Stay at a Disney Hotel near the park and get to the park before it opens if you can. Staying in one of the Disney parks is so easy because you can get the Monorail right to the gates of the park. We arrived at the park 15 minutes before it opened and the crowds were already swelling outside the gates.

Once you get through the gates of the park, RUN. Run to your favourite ride and get a Fast Pass! I can’t stress enough how important it is to get as many Fast Passes as you can in a day, which is why you need to be at the park early.

A Fast Pass is your pass to the front of the queue. You put your park ticket into a machine where your Fastpass pops out with a time you should return to the ride listed on it. Once you have one Fastpass, you can’t get another one until you use the first one or after 2 hours. Whichever comes first. At Tokyo Disneyland, Fastpasses for the most popular rides run out prior to midday, and if you were to stand in line, you could be in line for 2 hours or more on a busy day. So trust me when I say get there early and grab those fast passes!

Most of all have fun! Don't be scared off by the crowds and just go with it! I promise you will have the best time and I hope you love it as much as I did :-)
